چکیده

A method to predict groundwater vulnerability to pesticide contamination on a regional scale has been developed and applied to a part of the upper Rhone river valley in Western Switzerland. Ž . Stochastic application of deterministic pesticide leaching models Monte-Carlo , along with geostatistical interpolation techniques, were used to map both vulnerability levels and uncertainŽ ties. The various tested leaching models numerical and analytical solutions of the convection–dis. persion equation, capacitive model lead to similar outcomes. The resulting maps show very high vulnerabilities. However, uncertainties are large, ranging from 20–30% for vulnerability indices Ž . Ž . between 0 and 1. Variations in pesticide properties 40–50% , water table depth 30–40% and Ž . organic carbon content 20% account for almost all the uncertainties on predicted contamination levels. q 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Risk assessment of well contamination using a regional stochastic modelling approach

This paper presents a stochastic risk analysis approach for contamination of water supply wells in agriculturally dominated catchment areas, using a stochastic approach, where a numerical one-dimensional pesticide transport model has been coupled with a numerical three-dimensional groundwater flowand transport model. The risk analysis is based on Monte-Carlo simulations with multiple realizatio...

Assessment of Saltwater Pollution in Azarshahr Plain Groundwater, Iran: Conjugating GALDIT Method and Geostatistics

Overutilization of groundwater resources can put their quality under stress. It could be base on rapid declination in groundwater level leading to salt water intrusion in the coastal aquifers. The objective of this study was to map the vulnerability of salt water intrusion of the Urmia Lake, Iran to nearby coastal aquifer (Azarshahr) using GALDIT method. The GALDIT index based on six parameters...

Vulnerability Assessments of Pesticide Leaching to Groundwater

Stenemo, F., 2007. Vulnerability assessments of pesticide leaching to groundwater. Doctoral thesis. ISSN 1652-6880, ISBN 978-91-576-7356-5. Pesticides may have adverse environmental effects if they are transported to groundwater and surface waters. The vulnerability of water resources to contamination of pesticides must therefore be evaluated. Different stakeholders, with different objectives a...
